Dongwan Expressway is a high-quality highway built in China. After being opened to traffic, it will be connected with the national highway of Pakistan, opening the transportation channel between Gwadar Port and Karachi. Shabaz said that China has donated solar power equipment to thousands of households in Gwadar, built infrastructure for people's livelihood such as hospitals, and will also build desalination plants. Pakistan appreciates China's great contribution to helping solve the people's livelihood problem in Gwadar, thanks China for fully taking into account the interests of local fishermen and paying attention to the protection of national natural heritage such as geology and geomorphology in the design and construction of the East Bay Expressway, and is determined to speed up the construction of Gwadar. The Pakistani government will increase investment in infrastructure around Gwadar, improve various supporting policies, and create a better business environment for investors.

It is understood that the Gwadar East Bay Expressway starts from Gwadar Port in the south, with a total length of 19.49 kilometers, and the terminal point is connected with Pakistan National Highway 10. It is one of the early harvest projects of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. The project was undertaken by China Communications Construction Co., Ltd. and officially started construction in 2017.
On the same day, the commencement ceremony of China aided construction of Pakistan Gwadar Seawater Desalination Plant and other projects was also held on the site.
